Bridge Club
St. John's Bridge games consist of 16 hands of contract bridge. The expertise of the players varies from "beginner" to "talented amateur." Games are played in members' homes; couples take turns hosting. Refreshments may be served during the game and a light lunch afterward.
Although there is a schedule for playing, games are arranged at the convenience of the players and may be played at any time on any day of the week. Membership is $30 for the season, which runs from mid-September to the end of April. A windup is usually held at someone's home at which prizes may be awarded.
Proceeds from the activity of the Bridge Club have gone to St. John's Dean's Discretionary Fund, but they may go anywhere depending on the will of the club members.
Men's Breakfast Group
St. John's Men's Breakfast Club meets for breakfast and fellowship at 8:30 am on the second Saturday of each month (July and August excepted). Breakfasts may be at the Parish Hall or at Mulberry's Restaurant at Market Mall.
Members put on many activities throughout the year, including garage sales, craft sales, and various catering activities.
St Cecilia's Anglican Church Women
The Anglican Church Women is the unit for the ladies of the Anglican Church, and our group at St. John's is known as St. Cecilia's. We meet at the homes of different members on the second Tuesday of each month, at 1:30pm, from September to June. Meetings might include a Bible study, a visiting speaker, or perhaps a work bee to make Turkey Pies or Rice Crispie teddy bears. No matter what the activity, we have fun - yes - and share a little lunch too.
If you would like to know more, or would like to attend a meeting as a visitor, phone Betty Ann Horbay at 306-343-6012 or Lillian Morgan at 306-343-6972 - or talk to either one of them in church. All ladies from St. John's congregation are welcome.
Women's Breakfast Group
Some of the ladies of the parish meet in a different part of Mulberry's Restaurant in Market Mall for breakfast on the second Saturday of the month at 8:30am. This is a social group, to help us get to know one another - no work bees or projects.
Dinner Club
Do you like to try foods from different countries? Enjoy eating and socializing?
The Dinner Club meets on the 4th Saturday of each month from September to June at the homes of members. If not hosting the dinner, members are asked to bring one dish that represents the country chosen as the theme for that month.
If you would like to join, phone Judy Crozier-Smith at 306-373-7064.
Senior Ladies' Tea
Once a month, a Tea is held for the Senior Ladies of the parish. Parishioners take turns in hosting the tea and in driving the ladies.
