Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee provides leadership and education as we seek to reach beyond our weekly worship and parish life and serve the wider community. It focuses mainly on social and political conditions that require our personal and collective action and prayer, but also facilitates ecumenical activities such as twinning with St. Paul's Roman Catholic Cathedral.

To connect to wider networks, some members are involved with organizations such as the PWRDF Diocesan Refugee Committee, Saskatoon Refugee Coalition, Canadian Council for Refugees, Saskatoon Global Gathering Place, Inner City Council of Churches, the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples and the National Anglican Church Eco-Justice Committee.

In the past few years, the committee has focused on the themes of poverty and food security, refugees, and righting relations with aboriginal peoples. Activities include refugee sponsorship, settlement assistance for non-sponsored refugees, education and advocacy on aboriginal and refugee issues, Christmas food hampers, thematic church services, workshops, and concerts, supporting awareness and leadership opportunities for Cathedral youth, speaking to other congregations, and linking with an aboriginal Anglican community. New members are welcomed, and committee members are supportive of each other's personal needs and other time commitments.

Regular meetings are conducted in the lower parish hall after the 10:30 am service on the 1st Sunday of each month. A message can be left at the Cathedral Office for the chairperson.
